The Team:
Energy Transition & Sustainability Services (formerly Sustainable1) is part of the Commodity Insights Division within S&P Global but supports divisional Sustainability and Energy Transition growth across S&P Global. The role will report to the Commodity Insights CFO and will work with the Energy Transition & Sustainability Services leadership and Strategy teams. Additionally, they will work with finance partners and other stakeholders across all the divisions and at Corporate FP&A.

Responsibilities and Impact:

S&P Global is seeking a Finance Lead for the Energy Transition & Sustainability Services business line. This pivotal role will involve leading a small team and will report directly to the CFO of Commodity Insights while partnering closely with many different motivated skilled specialists across S&P Global.
Budgets & Estimates: Lead the financial planning and evaluation, financial reporting, and interpretation/analysis of the results for the enterprise-wide Sustainability and Energy Transition suite of products.
Events & Conferences: Manage the revenue and expense, as well as operational planning, for critical industry leading conferences that S&P Global organizes.
Presentations: Develop and present to Executive Leadership regularly on the enterprise financial performance regarding Energy Transition & Sustainability Services.
Revenue Management & Analysis: Develop and implement strategies for revenue management, ensuring the optimization of ACV (Annual Contract Value) and revenue through metrics such as retention, wallet share and growth. Partner with Product organization to play a part in developing new solutions and promoting their evolution.
Expense Management: Oversee the expenses for a complex budget that includes employee expenses, vendor spend, marketing costs, as well as direct and indirect expense P&Ls.
Investments Evaluation: Evaluate business cases for investments in growth opportunities (organic & inorganic) to determine optimal ROI, NPV, revenue uplift, and potential cost efficiencies.
Compensation Planning: Administer commercial incentive program driving enterprise-wide Sustainability and Energy Transition performance.
Decision Support & Ad Hoc Reporting: Provide decision support to senior leadership through detailed financial analysis and reporting. Develop and deliver ad hoc reports and analysis to meet the evolving needs of the business. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with business goals.
Strategic Leadership: Reporting to Commodity Insights Chief Financial Officer and become senior finance leader, contributing to the overall strategic direction of the finance function. Play a key role in shaping and executing financial strategies that drive business growth and operational efficiency.
People Leadership: Coach and develop the team to their greatest potential, supporting the expansion of experiences to support internal mobility and overall career development. Ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of excellence and ensuring seamless collaboration and efficiency across all finance functions.
Progressive Tools & Technologies: Foster the use of advanced tools and platforms, such as Salesforce, Xactly, Anaplan, Alteryx, Tableau, and Oracle to drive financial operations and insights. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about leveraging automation and GenAI technologies to drive innovation and efficiency in finance. Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $157,900 to $285,475. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field is required; an MBA or CPA/Chartered Accountant designation is preferred.
A minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience in finance, with a focus on controls, operational planning, and commercial finance.
Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the Financial Services industry is a plus.
Demonstration of results through transformation and efficiency in finance through cutting-edge approaches.
