What this role is all about:
We are seeking a strategic and visionary leader to oversee and drive the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) at Beem Credit Union. Reporting directly to the Chief Innovation Officer, the Vice President of EPMO will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the EPMO and aligning project management practices with the organization’s innovation and growth objectives. This role holds full accountability for the EPMO, ensuring that project initiatives support both short-term and long-term goals across all functions.
This role is open to remote working arrangements within B.C. While we welcome all applications, we anticipate filling this role with a candidate located in British Columbia.
What you’ll do:
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the EPMO with a strategic, future-oriented approach, establishing priorities and guiding high-impact project initiatives that align with the company’s overall innovation and growth strategy.
- Partner with the executive leadership team to identify, select, and launch key projects, ensuring the highest priority initiatives are completed efficiently.
- Develop and implement EPMO policies, frameworks, and standards to drive project efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with company goals.
- Remain informed about the enterprise project portfolio and strategic priorities to optimally sequence projects.
- Promote greater efficiency and effectiveness by introducing and applying Agile or other methodologies to drive organizational improvements.
Program Management
- Oversee the management of enterprise-wide programs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and delivery of expected benefits.
- Define and implement frameworks for program governance, performance tracking, and reporting to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Coordinate interdependencies across projects within programs to optimize resources, mitigate risks, and leverage synergies.
- Lead benefit realization strategies by ensuring programs deliver tangible and measurable outcomes that support the organization’s growth and transformation.
- Act as a strategic advisor for executives, program sponsors, providing insights and recommendations to achieve successful outcomes.
Project Management Leadership
- Structure multiple enterprise initiatives into a cohesive and prioritized portfolio, with supportive yet vigilant oversight.
- Establish, implement, and continuously enhance the organization’s project management framework, tools, and methodologies.
- Provide regular progress reports, outcomes, and potential risks to the Chief Innovation Officer and executive team, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Manage intake of new initiatives in alignment with the strategic plan
- Oversee a portfolio of strategic projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Develop and lead a high-performing Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) to ensure governance and accountability.
- Work closely with senior leadership to prioritize initiatives, allocate resources, and effectively mitigate risks and manage interdependencies.
- Establish and monitor key project metrics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement and ensure successful outcomes.
Agility
- Embed agile principles and practices within the EPMO to increase responsiveness and adaptability to changing business needs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging agile methodologies to streamline processes and deliver iterative value.
- Implement agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe to enhance team collaboration and improve time-to-market for initiatives.
- Facilitate agile coaching and training to empower teams across the organization to adopt an agile mindset.
- Act as a champion for organizational agility, ensuring the PMO supports innovation, rapid decision-making, and scalable delivery practices.
Enterprise Enablement, Collaboration & Change Management
- Partner closely with senior leaders across all departments to ensure EPMO initiatives support organizational priorities and facilitate alignment on cross-functional projects.
- Act as a strategic partner to executives, translating their vision into actionable projects and outcomes while providing detailed reporting.
- Develop new collaboration practices to integrate business functions, processes, and teams across the organization.
- Lead cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless delivery of transformation initiatives and strategic roadmaps.
- Together with organizational change (OCM) and project management teams, implement meaningful change management strategies to foster the adoption of new ways of working and minimize disruptions.
- Collaborate closely with other Innovation, IT and Integration leaders to align initiatives with business transformation efforts and strategic objectives
Resource Management, Optimization & Project Ownership
- Oversee resource allocation and manage the EPMO team, ensuring the right resources and capabilities are in place to drive successful project delivery across the organization.
- Continuously assess and refine processes to maximize EPMO efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle for all initiatives within the EPMO, ensuring projects meet strategic goals, timelines, and budget requirements.
- Provide strategic direction and support on critical projects from initiation through completion, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the EPMO team, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional growth to build project management capabilities across the organization.
- Cultivate a culture of agility, innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the EPMO.
- Offer professional development opportunities to enhance skills, agility, and career progression.
- Lead by example, promoting cross-functional teamwork and innovative approaches to achieve business outcomes.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field
- PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification is required
- 10+ years of experience in project management, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role within a PMO
- Proven track record in leading a strategic PMO and aligning project portfolios with corporate innovation and growth objectives
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong ability to influence and drive results in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
What you’ll gain:
- The salary range for this position is $184,000 - $204,000
