The anticipated salary range for this role is between $115,000.00 and $155,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

SUMMARY:

Reporting to Executive Director, Deposit and Lending Operations, this position offers the candidate the opportunity to build a credit card operation from the ground up, as it builds to its product launch. Initially, while pre-launch, the position will focus on tasks related to the operational build and implementation. This will include:
Vendor onboarding and management.

  • Creating process, procedures, and controls related to Servicing, Money Movement, Payments, Disputes, Settlement, and Card Production.
  • UAT testing.
  • Building a scalable operation.

Post implementation, the position pivots to running the operation they have build in a safe, secure, customer focused, and efficient manner consistent with bank standard and culture. In alignment with these goals, the successful candidate brings a broad range of skills and experiences to the position. Successful experience with launching card programs and with payments are a must.    

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Senior Operations leader and point of contact for Operational Target Operating Model.
  • Successful risk manager with domain experience in risk and effective controls with credit cards.
  • Operational process owner.
  • Strong subject matter expert and tester.
  • Team builder.
  • Money Movement/Payments expert.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7+ years of card experience. 
  • 3+ years implementation experience.
  • 5+ years money movement and payments experience (ACH accredited preferred).
  • Previous experience building a high performing bank operations function desired.
  • Excellent analytical skills. Ability to see the issue before it is an issue.
  • Highly proficient PC skills including MS Excel and Word
  • Must be able to plan and monitor activities according to priorities and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently within the scope of responsibilities for the position and complete assignments in a timely manner
