The Opportunity
EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation, and storage & flexible energy.
We are looking for a talented Senior Analyst or Analyst to join the Volume Forecasting (VF) team who are responsible for generating electricity and gas forecasts for our customers and forecasting the generation output from one of the largest UK PPA renewable portfolios.
The VF team is a critical part of the wider Portfolio Operations team who are responsible for forecasting, hedging, and trading EDF’s entire power and gas portfolio including renewable, nuclear and gas storage.

What you’ll be doing
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Reporting on the accuracy and financial impact of our renewable (wind, solar, hydro etc) forecasts.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Designing and sharing suitable metrics to measure key aspects of forecasting performance.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Owning and leading a programme of continuous improvement for reporting and insight within the team.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Identifying and supporting delivery of improvements to our renewable forecasts.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Recommending changes to our commercial contracts to protect against new/known forecasting risks.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Using reporting to identify areas for adding value eg certain technologies, locations, sectors, customers etc.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Working closely with stakeholders in WMS, EDF Business Solutions and Finance to enhance our reporting and insight capabilities.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Running business critical operations where required.
Who you are
We are looking for:
- Strong coding knowledge in SQL, R, Python or similar.
- Good knowledge of the UK energy market is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of numerical, analytical and modelling skills (e.g. time series analysis and regression).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to use initiative to develop and execute projects whilst under minimal supervision.
- Positive outlook with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to drive positive change, influence others and think innovatively.
