About the role: 

The Vice President - Project Management Office (VP - PMO) will lead the Project Management Office within our organization, overseeing the development and construction of nuclear power plants. This role is responsible for providing strategic direction and governance for all project management activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry regulations. The VP - PMO will integrate project controls, contracting, claims mitigation, and project governance to drive successful project outcomes and align with organizational goals. This role reports into the Chief Nuclear Officer. 

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: 

  - Provide overall direction for the Project Management Office, aligning project initiatives with the organization's strategic objectives. 

  - Collaborate with the Chief Nuclear Officer and other executive leadership to develop long-term project strategies. 

  • Develop and implement a phase gate approach. Assist projects in conducting gate reviews and provide results / recommendations to the gate keeper. 

  

Project Oversight: 

  - Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of nuclear power plant projects, ensuring adherence to project management best practices. 

  - Establish and maintain project governance frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards. 

  

Project Controls: 

  - Develop and implement robust project control processes, including scheduling, budgeting, and performance monitoring. 

  - Ensure effective resource allocation and utilization across all projects. 

  

Contract Management: 

  - Lead the contracting process, including procurement strategies, contract negotiations, and administration, to mitigate risks and ensure compliance. 

  - Monitor contract performance and manage relationships with contractors and suppliers. 

  

Claims Mitigation: 

  - Identify potential claims and disputes early in the project lifecycle and develop strategies for resolution to minimize impacts on project timelines and costs. 

  - Implement processes for risk assessment and management throughout the project lifecycle. 

  

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  - Engage with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, investors, and community representatives, to foster relationships and ensure transparency in project execution. 

  - Facilitate effective communication between project teams and executive leadership. 

  

Team Leadership: 

  - Build and lead a high-performing project management team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities. 

  - Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the PMO. 

Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). 

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the nuclear or energy sector. 

- Proven track record in leading project management teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget. 

- Strong knowledge of project controls, contracting practices, and claims management in a highly regulated environment. 

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders. 

- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent are highly desirable. 

- The VP - PMO will work in a construction and office environment with visits to project sites. This role may require travel for stakeholder meetings and project oversight.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: 

The estimated starting salary range for this role is $250,000 - $279,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a semi-monthly basis.  The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
