Job Description

We put educators and learners at the center of everything we do and we’re looking for a talented UX Designer like you to join our mission— ensuring academic integrity and improving learning outcomes globally.

The Role: UX Designer

You’re a skilled practitioner who is fluent in UX principles and practices from concept through delivery. You’ll dive deep into complex design challenges, refining and realizing product strategies and feature requirements. You’ll define the customer experience at the feature level to create compelling, effective solutions.

What Your Day Looks Like

  • Collaborate daily with product managers, engineers, and your fellow designers
  • Engage with writing, research, accessibility, and localization specialists  to bring small to medium-sized projects to life
  • Seek and integrate feedback on your designs and approaches, continuously refining your deliverables and craft
  • Lead by example, embodying Turnitin’s core values and driving forward our commitment to high-quality, user-centered design

Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver design projects from concept to testing to launch
  • Balance user needs with business goals to create designs that are both intuitive and impactful
  • Champion user-centered design principles and methodologies
  • Produce comprehensive deliverables—from wireframes to detailed specs—guiding development with an eye for accessibility

Qualifications

Who You Are

Essential Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in UX design
  • A portfolio showcasing design deliverables, including case studies demonstrating the ability to navigate complex design challenges at both the functional and feature levels

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or human-computer interaction (HCI)
  • Experience working in ed-tech or education
  • Exceptional communication, presentation skills, business writing and interpersonal skills
  • Experience running usability tests, synthesizing and analyzing results, and iterating designs based on findings  
  • Track record of improving deliverables and processes
  • Demonstrated ability in accessible design

Additional Information

The expected annual base salary range for this position is: $85,000/year to $125,000/year. This position is bonus eligible / commission-based.
As a Remote-First company, actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if extended, and is determined by work location and a range of other relevant factors, including but not limited to: experience, skills, degrees, licensures, certifications, and other job-related factors. Internal equity, market and organizational factors are also considered.
