That’s why Macmillan Learning is committed to doing everything we can to help teachers teach the way they want and students learn in the most effective way possible.

Intern with us Summer 2025, so you can Achieve More

As a UX Design Intern, you will join a team of creative professionals in our program that is intended to immerse you in the fundamentals of UX Design, while also exposing you to the daily realities of the UX discipline.

During the course of the program, you will receive ongoing mentorship while assisting with product discovery activities and design tasks. Additionally, you will assist with creating solutions focused on gaining administrative efficiencies and helping the team to be more productive.

Our goal is to provide hands-on participation in real world design projects so that you can gain new knowledge, but also contribute what YOU know; as well as practice new skills.   We sometimes talk about “ideal candidates,” but we do this NOT to discourage you from applying, but more to explain what we typically look for. Even if you don’t think this describes you, but you still have a passion for helping customers solve their problems through design, please consider applying.   In this UX Design Intern role, the candidate should…
  • demonstrate a passion for designing the best possible user experience through understanding customer problems and working to communicate those problems along with the opportunities they present;
  • work to align with our product management partners to understand use cases, define workflows and storyboards, and convert them into concrete screen flows, wireframes, and other visual design deliverables in order to quickly arrive at a design iteration;
  • actively own and contribute to product brainstorming, user research, interaction design, and visual design sessions;
  • work to become familiar with existing style guidelines, our design systems, and various templates and practices already in use.

Skills / Knowledge:

  • You must be enrolled in a degreed program (i.e. Bachelor’s, Master’s, etc)
    • We will accept applicants graduating with their degree in Spring 2025.
  • Experience with design software such as Figma, Illustrator, Whimsical, Adobe XD, Affinity Designer, or other similar wire-framing tools (there are many, but what we’re looking for is the ability to communicate concepts visually using digital — often web-based — tools);

While this is a remote work position, candidates should generally expect to be available during standard working hours (9 AM - 5:30 PM) in their time zone.

 This internship is eligible for remote participation, excluding the following locations: Arizona, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Washington DC, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington State, West Virginia, Wyoming.
