Here’s a summary of the role:
Join YouGov’s US Sport Client Services team and help deliver impactful, data-driven insights to some of the most influential sports leagues, teams, agencies, and brands.
The Graduate Analyst (Market Research Track) will rotate through two of our core teams: Syndicated and Custom Research. You will complete 6-month rotations through each team, gaining a well-rounded experience across YouGov’s data products and custom survey services. This structure is designed to develop versatile analysts prepared for future roles within any of our core teams.
You will start with the Syndicated team, gaining hands-on experience with several data products: Profiles, BrandIndex, and YouGov’s overarching data platforms. This experience will provide a foundational understanding of both the Crunch interface and of general market research principles before transitioning to Custom Research, where the focus will shift to in-depth survey design, fieldwork, and analysis.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):
- Become a product expert: Develop fluency in syndicated product suite – specifically in Profiles and BrandIndex, understanding the platforms’ data and functionality to guide clients effectively.
- Deliver insights & reporting for sports clients: Create and present recurring insights reports on brand tracking, market sizing, audience profiling, sponsorships, and other core research needs.
- Analyze data & tell compelling stories: Translate complex data into actionable insights that answer clients’ strategic business questions.
- Attend client meetings and collaborate with team members to problem solve with a variety of clients and stakeholders.
- Participate in custom research methodology development and the survey design process.
- Oversee fieldwork management, including coordinating with internal operations teams, monitoring fieldwork progress, troubleshooting issues, and managing project timelines.
- Analyze research data and craft insightful, actionable reports that align with client objectives.
These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (fields such as sports management, marketing, business, economics, psychology, statistics, market research, or analytics are a plus).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- An enthusiasm for data and uncovering insights to guide strategy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in research execution.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling, data-driven narratives.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- A service-oriented mindset, with enthusiasm for working in a client-facing role.
- Adaptability and impartiality in managing diverse client needs and research tasks.
It would be great if you had these to, but we’ll support you if you don’t:
- Prior experience as a researcher or analyst, or experience translating data into compelling stories.
- Proficiency in research tools and methodologies, with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
- Familiarity with a variety of survey research techniques.
- Exposure to client-facing projects or consulting.
- Knowledge of the US sports landscape and an understanding of basic sports business principles.
