Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Remote Bookkeeper to support U.S.-based accounting firms. The ideal candidate will assist accounting firms by managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with U.S. accounting and tax regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software to provide efficient and reliable support to accounting firms and their diverse clientele.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Bookkeeping:
- Manage day-to-day financial transactions for multiple clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare journal entries and ensure the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
- Financial Reporting:
- Generate client financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Assist accounting firms in preparing reports for tax filings and audits.
- Tax Compliance Support:
- Track and manage sales tax filings for clients.
- Prepare schedules and provide documentation to support tax filings.
- Payroll Support:
- Process payroll data and reconcile payroll transactions.
- Coordinate with external payroll providers and ensure compliance with U.S. payroll regulations.
- Client Communication:
- Collaborate with accounting firm staff to gather necessary financial information.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide regular updates on their financial status.
- Process Optimization:
- Suggest process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of bookkeeping tasks.
- Stay updated on best practices and tools in bookkeeping and financial management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably supporting accounting firms or multiple clients.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of U.S. accounting principles, tax regulations, and payroll processes.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
Preferred but Not Required
- Experience with Dext, Hubdoc, Bill.com, Gusto, or similar tools is an asset.
- Familiarity with managing books for a variety of industries.
- Adaptability to learn and implement new software or processes.
