Underwriting Analyst

Remote CA - R1, United States

Performs review and risk analysis of rate setting factors using historical and projected data and makes recommendations to achieve PLR target. Completes analysis as requested by management in support of setting strategic direction.

Formulates objectives and scope to develop management reporting and auditing using a variety of sources, including mainframe download files and databases

Collects, studies, and reviews documentation to support client and/or product financial decisions for management

Develops and prepares reports that outline client administrative and claim financial results on all Vision Care business and cross sections of Vision Care business

Uses automated rating tools to ensure maximum efficiency and targeted results. Develops and implements new producting pricing to achieve company PLR target

Utilizes understanding of underwriting systems, both automated and manual, as well as dependencies to the system. Acquires knowledge of other systems, such as product, revenue and claims, that directly impact underwriting objectives

Provides intradivisional analysis and reporting for client financial results in support of financial and/or regulatory reporting

Participates in project teams dealing with changes that primarily affect underwriting systems requiring navigation with multiple stakeholders

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field or equivalent business analysis experience

Four years of underwriting or related experience

Preferred Experience with SQL, Power BI

Proven analytical and problem solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in spreadsheet applications

Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail

Ability to multi-task and work under strict deadlines

Strong business aptitude, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Strong work ethic and flexible work style
 

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties.

Clean credit history as reported by credit report

Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Salary Ranges: $63,000.00 - $108,675.00
