Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
To assist with mapping and analyzing culverted stream crossings in the North Dakota portion of the Red River Basin,
using GIS tools to identify barriers to fish migration and support ecological restoration efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect field data and conduct GIS mapping.
- Assist with data analysis on fish passage.
- Prepare reports and presentations.
Required Competencies
- GIS Proficiency: Ability to work with Geographic Information System (GIS) software (e.g., ArcGIS or QGIS) for mapping and spatial analysis.
- Data Analysis Skills: Competence in analyzing datasets, including spatial and environmental data.
- Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication for documenting findings and presenting information.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with other team members and follow project guidelines.
Minimum Requirements
- Enrolled as an undergraduate student in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Geography, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of GIS software and Microsoft Excel.
- Commitment to work 10-15 hours per week for the duration of the project
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
