Undergrad Intern - Data Science (TS&BA)

This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in the application of data science and analytics within the context of toxicology and drug development. As part of the TS&BA team, you will gain valuable insights into how data-driven approaches are used to assess the safety and efficacy of drug candidates, contributing to the overall drug development process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with toxicologists and data scientists to analyze preclinical toxicology data using statistical and computational tools, as well as databases and data repositories.
  • Participate in data cleaning, manipulation, and visualization tasks to extract meaningful insights from toxicology datasets.
  • Support the integration of multi-omics data (e.g., genomics, proteomics) for safety assessment.
  • Support the development of target liability assessments for drug discovery and development projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the drug development pipeline and the role of toxicology in advancing new drug candidates.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and contribute to scientific discussions.
  • Conduct literature reviews on drug targets and emerging trends within toxicology and drug safety.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergrad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
  • Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
  • Enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship OR co-op

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree concentration(s) in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in drug development, toxicology, and the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Basic understanding of data analysis, statistical methods, and data visualization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $24.70 - $28.30 per hour.
