UI/UX Designer

Mid-Level UI/UX Designer | Location: Remote | Salary $125K ~$130k DOE.  

About Aleut Federal

Aleut Federal is seeking a talented Mid-Level UX/UI Designer with a passion for human-centered design and the latest design best practices. Join our team to support the design and development of public-facing websites for federal government agencies.

In this role, you will:

• Collaborate with the Design/UX team to develop and implement the overall vision for end users, planning for short- and long-term improvements.
• Participate in daily Agile ceremonies, including DSU, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, and Retrospectives.
• Create user testing strategies, conduct user testing, interpret results, and provide evidence-based recommendations to clients.
• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using Figma.
• Ensure designs meet 508-compliance standards and work closely with developers to ensure feasibility.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of design systems, style guides, and overall site architecture.

Job requirements of the position:

• Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in UX/UI design or related field.
• Proficiency in UX research methods and tools (e.g., Optimal Workshop, HotJar) and design software (e.g., Figma).
• Experience in wireframing, prototyping, and creating high-fidelity designs for websites and digital solutions.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Ability to map user journeys across touchpoints and contribute to long-term vision roadmaps.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting to clients and stakeholders.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Portfolio demonstrating UX/UI projects and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of accessibility and 508-compliance standards.

Preferred qualifications:

• Human Factors certifications such as CUA or HCI.
• Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS), particularly Drupal.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian suite (JIRA).
• Experience supporting federal government clients.
• Understanding of the complete design process from brainstorming to implementation.
