Platform Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Richardson, TX | Full-time | On-site
Clearance: Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph - required

Duration: 12-month contract - option to convert to full-time

Pay: $140,000 - $152,000 - based on competency and experience - full benefits included 

About the Role

We are seeking a Platform Infrastructure Engineer to join our team supporting a large-scale, strategic national program. You will help empower development teams by building and maintaining a hybrid-cloud platform that enhances collaboration, streamlines processes, and accelerates release cycles. This role involves hands-on engineering work across servers, storage, networks, and custom hardware, alongside infrastructure documentation and baseline management.

Responsibilities

  • Support transitioning systems from tightly coupled infrastructure to scalable architectures.

  • Design, develop, integrate, and support build, integration & test, and deployment pipelines for on-premises cloud environments.

  • Optimize platforms for performance, scalability, and automation using industry best practices.

  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and DevOps teams to deliver mission-focused solutions.

  • Integrate security services (e.g., encryption, access management) into the platform.

  • Provide operational support for Red Hat Linux (v7+, 8+ preferred) and Rancher environments.

  • Troubleshoot applications and infrastructure services on Linux-based systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Physics, or related STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with automation frameworks (Chef, Puppet, Ansible).

  • Proficient in installing, configuring, and integrating COTS/FOSS products.

  • Hands-on experience with platform infrastructure services (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Rancher).

  • Strong Linux troubleshooting skills.

  • Active and transferable TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph (required on Day 1).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, GitLab).

  • Exposure to AWS or other cloud-based web services.

  • Knowledge of secure coding practices (OWASP, secrets management, vulnerability remediation).

  • Understanding of networking concepts and architectures.

  • Familiarity with security scanning tools (Nessus, Fortify, Anchore).

  • Multi-disciplinary infrastructure experience (compute, networking, storage, virtualization).

  • Experience with DevSecOps frameworks.

  • Programming or scripting skills (Python, Java, Bash, Perl, Ruby, C++).

  • Current DoD 8570 certification (CompTIA Security+, CCNA) or ability to obtain.
