Job Description:

Test Engineer Leads are an integral part of the team here at GDIT that supports the US Dept. of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid. You will be directly working on testing a new microservices-based solution to assist millions of students pursue the dream of higher education. This is an exciting opportunity creating a new cloud-based application while being a part of a DevSecOps integration. Your experience and ability to oversee the process of testing and monitor other testers to ensure proper execution and also perform testing on RESTful services and API’s are just the skills we need to deliver this solution to our customer. Communication is important within our organization; we use the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to empower our development team.

Your day-to-day impact:

  • Working as a member of a scrum team to lead, develop, execute high quality reusable test cases for Microservices with Java, Spring Boot, and REST API’s
  • Perform tasks required for manual and automated test implementation including review acceptance criteria (Cucumber/Gherkin scripts), create integration/regression test scenarios, test cases, implement test data management strategy, and generate required reports in JIRA
  • Contributing within a SAFe environment including the Daily scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospectives, Backlog grooming, Sprint/System Demos, PI Planning, and Inspect & Adapt events

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
  • 8+ years of related experience testing REST, JSON, and backend APIs (PostMan, or ReadyAPI)
  • Ability to write and execute automation scripts
  • Ability to identify and create reusable test data
  • Technical understanding of SQL databases
  • U.S. Citizen with existing or the ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • In depth knowledge of testing methodologies, testing strategies, testing tools, test case development, test process management, and defect management.
  • Extensive experience in identifying and creation of reusable test data
  • Knowledge of with common web development frameworks (Angular, Docker, React, Spring, Node.js, jQuery, Microservice Design, etc.)
  • Experience working in a Database and running mySQL queries
  • Experience creating reports in ReadyAPI

The likely salary range for this position is $92,331 - $154,211. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
