Trial Senior Staff Attorney (Primarily Home in Oregon or Washington)

We handle moderately complex litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility. Position Compensation Range:

$111,000.00 - $190,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Handle litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.

  • Analyze file as litigation progresses. Evaluates cases and seeks settlement as necessary.

  • Conduct discovery (e.g. written interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and depositions).

  • Conduct motion practice.

  • Draft all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance litigation. Conducts necessary research in support of drafting activities.

  • Advocate client position in all state court and alternative dispute resolution.

  • Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyzes how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of the various policy provisions.

  • May have or develop areas of specialty practice (e.g. special property, workers` compensation, commercial coverage).


Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service

  • Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses.

  • Demonstrated litigation experience.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.

  • Admitted to the state bar in Oregon with a preference to admission in both Oregon and Washington.

  • Juris Doctor


Licenses

  • Licensed in Oregon or Washington.


Travel Requirements

  • Up to 50% generally within the state for hearings and trial.


Physical Requirements

  • Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
