Transportation Design Engineer

The Opportunity

Ulteig is excited to announce we are seeking a Transportation Design Engineer who will engage with Ulteig’s transportation teams to provide innovative design solutions to facilitate the development, design, and construction of transportation projects. The selected candidate will be involved with the design of small to large multi-discipline projects. Candidates must be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Ulteig is a 100% employee-owned company with ESOP contribution for eligible employees after the first year of service.

 

What You'll Do

  • Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks.
  • Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports that are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound engineering practices.
  • Work closely with and provides guidance to engineering technicians and graduate engineers.
  • Check design computations performed by the internal civil design team when appropriate.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
  • Review plans and specifications for accuracy, quality, construct-ability, safety, and risk management considerations.
  • Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
  • Is technically involved with the resolution of design challenges that may include performing field investigations or observations and when necessary, resolving discrepancies between multiple sources of information.
  • Works closely with business and engineering staff across multiple offices and technical disciplines.
  • Work on projects associated with multiple State DOTs and municipalities.

 

What We Expect from You

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent required.
  • Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration is required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum 2 years of civil engineering experience required.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and CAD Software Applications such as C3D, Bentley Open Roads Designer, and Bentley MicroStation.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $73,800 - $99,900
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
