Get to Know the Opportunity:  

The Training Specialist is an exciting role where you will have the responsibility of the delivery and continuous improvement of training programs across all delivery mediums. This role requires strong technical and professional skills, including the ability to learn to facilitate a wide-variety of functional and professional skills training consistent with the principles of adult learning theory and to the highest standards of competency-based training. This role plays an integral part in new hire onboarding training, which ensures new employees receive the best onboarding experience at Voya Financial, as well as the many skills needed to support and engage with our customers.

Work Schedule hours will be Mountain Time.

Please Note:  Work location for this role is FLEXIBLE! This position allows 100% remote work from home or allows work to be performed in any of our major office locations with a hybrid schedule. 

The Contributions You’ll Make:

  • Assists in assessing training and development needs for individuals and/or departments to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
  • Create basic instructional training materials for new processes and just in time training based on adult learning needs and aligned with principles of good training.
  • Develop interactive training environment where hands on experience coordinated with other live and multimedia tools drive mastery of skills needed to succeed in highly technical jobs.
  • Facilitate classroom and virtual training according to industry best practices ensuring the best possible learning experience for a wide variety of learning styles.
  • Update training materials as operational, technical, and procedural changes occur to ensure that curriculum is always accurate and up to date.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve existing training curriculum by analyzing teaching methods and identifying better methods to promote effective learning and transference of skills to the job.
  • Select or develop training aids, including training facilitator and participant guides, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
  • Facilitate live training up to 50% of the time.
  • Manages a diverse and inclusive classroom environment (in person and virtually), upholding the highest standards of professionalism to ensure a positive learning experience for all.
  • Consistently exercises sound judgment by proactively communicating employee behavioral and learning challenges during training to management, always maintaining a safe and comfortable learning environment.
  • Provides constructive coaching throughout training and nesting to help learners refine and enhance their technical and professional skills toward established standards.
  • Advocate on behalf of users/learners to leadership when needed to improve the training experience.
  • Establish strong working relationships with other trainers, management, and leadership.
  • Consistently perform all administrative job functions in an organized and timely manner in order to deliver and document training programs.
  • Manage onboarding training materials for new employees including curriculum and schedules.
  • Manage content governance, ensuring materials are reviews on a bi-annual basis and are consistent with standard work and Voya brand guidelines.
  • Advance our technology and ideas to support a modern and inclusive learning culture.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience:   

  • 2 + years of Learning & Development experience or equivalent experience with classroom and virtual facilitation as well as conducting training needs analyses and developing training curricula.
  • Training within a Financial and/or Health focused organization is preferred.
  • Enjoys and seeks new experiences and challenges.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Builds strong relationships with leaders and business partners at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$47,810 - $59,760 USD
