Overview
Devis is seeking a highly skilled Test Automation Engineer to support the modernization efforts for the House Clerk’s Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining automated test suites for modernized legislative applications. Working as an integral member of an established Integrated Program Team (IPT), the Test Automation Engineer will leverage expertise in automation tools and agile testing methodologies to ensure robust and reliable software delivery. This position is primarily located on Capitol Hill, with occasional off-site work as approved by the client, and is contingent upon award.
Primary Duties
- Develop and maintain automated test suites using tools such as Cucumber, Selenium, and/or Playwright.
- Create and execute functional, regression, and performance tests based on user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to define test strategies and refine acceptance criteria.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery processes.
- Troubleshoot, document, and report test results and defects, ensuring timely resolution.
- Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings as part of an agile team.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for test cases, test plans, and automation frameworks.
- Assist in migrating legacy test suites to modern automation frameworks as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in test automation using tools such as Cucumber, Selenium, and/or Playwright.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and CI/CD practices within a software development environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and maintain robust automated test suites.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in identifying, documenting, and troubleshooting issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on government IT modernization projects or within a federal contracting environment.
- Familiarity with additional test automation tools and frameworks.
- Knowledge of software development best practices, including code reviews and version control.
- Relevant industry certifications or training in test automation, quality assurance, or related disciplines.
- The ability to pass a background check is required.
