CAL is located in Washington, D.C. For this position, the employee may choose to work in their preferred combination of in person at the D.C. office in a hoteling capacity, or remotely (up to 100% remote). CAL does not compensate or reimburse candidates for relocation expenses. This position is not open to candidates residing in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, California, or the U.S. Territories.

Job Description

Full-Time/Contract through June 30, 2027

The Test Assembly Specialist, WCAG Compliance is involved with the remediation of internet-based English language proficiency assessments to bring them into compliance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) requirements.

The Test Assembly Specialist, WCAG Compliance will work with the Technical Project Manager, WCAG Compliance, other technical specialists at CAL, client representatives, and representatives of third-party vendors to identify solutions to bring existing QTI (Question and Test Interoperability) packages into WCAG compliance. Once solutions are identified, the Test Assembly Specialist, WCAG Compliance will implement the required solutions through editing the component parts of the QTI packages (HTML, CSS and XML files) and conduct quality control reviews of the remediated QTI packages. The Test Assembly Specialist, WCAG Compliance will also be responsible for documenting solutions for future development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Evaluate code in QTI packages for issues related to WCAG compliance and investigate potential solutions.
  • Update QTI packages for compliance to WCAG.
    • Perform HTML markup.
    • Perform CSS styling.
    • Perform XML markup.
  • Document program code and create templates and other resources for ongoing development that complies with WCAG.
  • Conduct QC reviews QTI packages in various development environments.
  • Interface with Test Development team and production team as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS in EdTech, Computer Science, or other relevant field required.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Expertise programming HTML, XML, and CSS.
  • Expertise with QTI 2.x and 3.x.
  • Expertise developing web content that adheres to WCAG requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

COMPENSATION:

Minimum Salary: $48,000 ; Benefits eligible

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate. The employee may be required to sit or stand in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
