- $17 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position
Under the supervision of the Center Director, Assistant Director and the ECE Services Supervisor II, the teacher assistant provides support to the ECE Services Supervisor II in the care and active supervision of children 18 months to age 12. Furthermore, the teacher assistant in the float position will act as a substitute teacher, covering teachers' personal/medical leave.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work one-on-one with children with disability. Assist the teacher in maintaining a developmentally appropriate classroom, including all children regardless of their abilities.
- Assist and/or substitute for the classroom teacher, providing developmentally appropriate educational experiences, including all children regardless of ability.
- Assist the classroom teacher in maintaining the health and safety of the environment and the children.
- Assist classroom teacher in effectively and respectfully working with families.
- Assist classroom teacher in welcoming UND Field experience students, student caregivers, volunteers, and foster grandparents.
- Promote one’s personal and professional growth through continuing education, professional literature, and commitment to self-evaluation.
- Work effectively, respectfully, & professionally with a team of colleagues (Teamwork).
- Maintain professional/ethical conduct.
Required Competencies
- Computer literate
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Very good oral/written communication skills
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices in early
childhood.
Minimum Requirements
One or more of the following:
- 40 hours of professional Early Childhood professional development preparation to include
10 clock hours of training in each North Dakota Core Competency Areas:
Families/Communities, Program Planning/Evaluation, and Professional Development and
Leadership. The listed trainings must be delivered by an Early Childhood agency with
expertise in the field such as Head Start, Growing Futures, US Military). - Early Childhood Certificate from a vocational or technical school.
- One 3 semester credit college course directly applicable to one of the following ND Core
Competency Areas: Families/Communities, Program Planning/Evaluation, and Professional
Development and Leadership. - 1 year of work experience in Early Childhood Education.
AND all of the following:
- Successful completion of criminal history records check
- Successful completion of the ND Department Health and Human Service Criminal History
Fingerprinting Background Check. - Valid Driver’s License
- Other License(s) or Certification(s): Upon being hired CPR/First Aid/AED Training and ND Growing Futures basic childcare course, “Getting Started”.

Preferred Qualifications
- Associates in early childhood education or child development Certificate (CDA).
