A Day in the LifeThis is an on-site role. It is NOT open to remote.

Technician will provide maintenance and repair to all capital equipment owned by the Navigation Access Center. Will be responsible for following all quality processes in place and ensure that all testing equipment is PM'd annually.

The Technician III will provide engineering support in the testing and sustainment of image-guided devices and robotic devices.  The Technician will work in the lab supporting the troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and documentation of multiple types of equipment. The Technician will also perform verification testing in support of electrical engineering and report data in prescribed format.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas.

  • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.

  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.

  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.

  • Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience


Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of basic electronic components and component functionality.

  • Ability to work from electronic schematics, engineering drawings (assembly, layout, and PCB artwork) and written or verbal instructions.

  • Experience setting up electronic circuit boards, devices and systems and Performing tests, troubleshoots, repairs and documents test results.

  • Experience with digital and analog Printed Circuit Boards (PCBAs), microcontrollers, analog circuitry, linear and switching regulators, connectors, fuses, cables, and mechanical enclosures.

  • Experience in reworking and soldering of surface mount 0603 components, fine pitch high-pin-count ICs, large power semiconductors such as TO-247s, and assembly of prototype test boards using microscopes. 

  • Ability to perform characterization and design verification testing, sets up lab equipment and executes electrical tests following engineering test procedures and to analyze, interpret and document test data.

  • Experience with oscilloscopes, DVM and general lab electronics equipment.

  • Experience in the workflow of a PLM system such as Agile.

  • Communicate with team members.

  • Experience in the source, fabricate, assembly, modification and completion of test fixtures and equipment.

  • Experience in self starting and balancing a complex personal workload. Communicate progress concerns in a timely manner and provide alternative solutions.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$57,600.00 - $86,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
