We are seeking a motivated Technical Writer Intern to assist our team with technical writing and knowledge management tasks. In this role, you will work closely with our Knowledge Manager, subject matter experts, product teams, and customer support to help create, maintain, and optimize technical documentation and knowledge base content. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in knowledge management and technical writing.

Primary Job Functions:

Technical Documentation

  • Assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation, including user guides, FAQs, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting documents.

  • Help translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly content tailored to different audiences.

  • Ensure documentation is structured, concise, and aligned with organizational style guides and best practices.

  • Review and update existing content to maintain accuracy, clarity, and relevance.

 Knowledge Management

  • Support the application of Knowledge Management best practices to capture, structure, and maintain knowledge assets.

  • Help enhance knowledge base organization, metadata, and searchability for optimal content discoverability.

  • Monitor and analyze content effectiveness using performance metrics such as article usage, search success rates, and user feedback.

  • Assist in identifying knowledge gaps and proactively creating or updating content.

  • Contribute to establishing and enforcing governance policies for content lifecycle management.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, support teams, and SMEs to gather technical information and ensure documentation accuracy.

  • Support self-service enablement by optimizing knowledge resources for internal teams and customers.

  • Participate in continuous process improvements for documentation workflows and knowledge sharing frameworks.

Education/Qualifications

  • Preferably pursuing bachelor’s degree with a focus on technical writing, knowledge management, or a related field.

  • Preferably students between their junior and senior years.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and documentation tools like Jira or Confluence.

  • Basic understanding of Knowledge Management principles and best practices.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with people at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.

  • Detail oriented, highly organized, problem solver, adaptable, and able to work autonomously.

WEG hires employees and makes decisions about their salary qualifications based on factors such as: the role to be performed; educational and professional experience, qualifications, skills and credentials; tenure, cost-of-living and demand for the role in the applicable market. Thus, the entire salary range for those who are classified as the Intern level is $34,309 to $52,983.
