Description
We are in search of a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. As a Technical Writer, you will play a crucial role in planning, creating, and editing various operational, maintenance, and game rules documentation for print and digital formats. What Will You Be Doing?
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment planning, creating, writing, and editing various operational, maintenance, and/or game rules documentation for print publication and digital viewing.
- Customarily and regularly interviews various users and staff, gathering data for technical documentation; reports any gap in policies, procedures, or standards identified throughout the data gathering phase and develops well thought-out and visually appealing written and visual materials.
- Translate technical information and processes into workflows requiring decision points and actionable tasks.
- Develop high-quality documentation of varying formats that can be comprehended and used by a target audience and meet the intended requirements, standards, objectives, and goals of the product, procedure, or process.
- Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards of order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
- Assist with documentation including, but not limited to, voice-over scripts and on-screen instructions.
- Collaborate with and provide mentoring, peer review, and feedback to department team members writing projects.
Skills, Knowledge, & Expertise Needed for the Job:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications or other related field, or equivalent work experience in a related field required.
- 3-5 years of experience writing and editing documentation for technical and non-technical audiences required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated proficiency in gathering, distilling, and organizing information.
- Demonstrated proficiency in how to structure documents based on requirements and desired outcomes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with software and hardware documentation, specifically concerning task-based or procedural documentation.
- Proficiency in standard documentation formats, including Word documents and PDF.
