Overview

The Technical Architect provides technical leadership and is responsible for establishing the direction for the architecture, standards, design, and implementation approaches for the company’s application systems, infrastructure and/or network-based cloud product systems.

 

Starting base pay for this role is between $145,000 and $175,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, training, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will be eligible for a bonus as well as competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits, wellness reimbursement, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match. We offer vacation and sick leave benefits (under a flexible time off policy in most states).

 

Responsibilities

  • Understands the organizational needs to define system specifications.
  • Plans and designs the structure of a technology solution ensuring limited security risk.
  • Communicates system requirements to software development teams.
  • Evaluates and selects appropriate software or hardware and suggests integration methods.
  • Oversees assigned programs (i.e., conduct code review) and provide guidance to team members.
  • Assists with solving technical problems when they arise.
  • Ensures the implementation of agreed architecture and infrastructure.
  • Addresses technical concerns, ideas, and suggestions.
  • Monitors systems to ensure they meet both user needs and business goals.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and manages the use of open source libraries for vulnerabilities.
  • Reviews current platform security measures and provides recommendations and implementation of enhancements.
  • Performs on-going security testing and code review to improve software security.
  • Trains and mentors Development Team on secure coding practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect.
  • Hands-on experience with software development and system administration.
  • 7+ years of proficiency in C#/Java (preferably C#)
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor other developers in adopting TDD best practices and integrating these methodologies into the team's development workflow
  • Worked extensively with engineering teams to decouple and refactor monolithic code bases
  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant, and event-driven/reactive architectures using microservices and modular monolith patterns
  • Extensive hands-on experience with messaging in production environments (e.g., RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, Apache Pulsar, AWS Kinesis or other similar technologies), using streaming frameworks like Kafka Streams, ksqlDB, Flink, Spark etc.
  • Proven experience in configuring, optimizing, and monitoring the performance and reliability of streaming data clusters
  • Proficiency in MVC patterns (ASP.NET, Angular, or React)
  • Experience with modern SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Redis)
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS EKS, Lambda, EC2, and S3) and serverless architectures
  • Experience with Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks (e.g., Angular or React) a plus
  • Strong understanding of software quality assurance principles, security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security
  • Experience designing scalable API frameworks with an API first mentality
  • Understanding of strategic IT solutions and their application in business contexts
  • Experience in project management and Agile development methodologies a plus
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • AWS Cloud certifications are a plus
