Company: Veruna, Inc.

Role: Tech Lead

Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Remote

Job Description:

The Tech Lead is an individual contributor peer leader responsible for the architecture, development, execution, and delivery of the Quoting and Sales features of the Veruna Agency Management System product. Our product is built on top Salesforce and is available in the Salesforce AppExchange as well as proprietary services hosted in Microsoft Azure. You will be accountable for managing the technical aspects of your team’s product features including technical design, application design patterns, and ensuring that Veruna’s coding and security standards are followed within your team. You will be a leader within your team consisting of engineers with mixed skillsets including Salesforce Apex, Salesforce Lightning Components, Microsoft C#, Python, and others. You are also a contributing engineer on your team and expected to develop software at least 50% of your time. Your responsibilities include ensuring delivery of high-quality product, implementing best practices, extensible and secure application and system architectures, utilizing test-driven/behavior-driven development (TDD/BDD) techniques, and delivering fully deployable systems. The individual will need to be customer-focused, think of everything-as-code, have high-quality standards, problem-solve to design and review scalable architectures, and excel at collaborating across teams within the organization.

You Are:

  • An empathetic peer leader who fosters collaboration, problem-solving, and coaches their team members.

  • Love to invent. You have grit, determination and resiliency and are determined to get there.

  • Always learning. You want to be a pro in bleeding-edge software, application, and system design including employing generative AI, micro-UX frameworks, TDD/BDD, and data and API frameworks.

  • Appreciative of direct communication. You’re an active communicator and an eager listener – after all, one doesn’t work without the other. You handle candid feedback with ease and view every setback as a chance to learn and improve.

  • Adaptable and have a desire to learn. With the ever-evolving nature of enterprise software systems, our priorities, tools, design patterns shift as well. What you worked on last month might not be what you’re tackling today, and that excites you.

  • Possessing a “can do” attitude. Our teams produce top-notch work on fast timelines. Tackling a problem head-on doesn’t intimidate you; it motivates you to take full ownership and drive our mission forward.

  • Wanting to be part of and build a winning team. We’re stronger together, and you’re a person who embraces being pushed out of your comfort zone and coaching others to do the same.

  • A data-driven decision-maker. Data and metrics bring visibility to how platforms, people, and processes operate. You seek out and know how to story-tell with data to illustrate how your team’s efforts impact our employees and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Spend at least 50% of the time actively developing software to deliver the Quoting and Sales features of our enterprise-grade Agency Management System, consisting of front-end user experience, Lightning Web Component micro-UX, API services, extensive insurance and financial data-model across Salesforce ISV packages, web applications, REST APIs, and AI.

  • Take ownership of team technical project management, application architectures, and software design patterns that drive scalable product delivery and engineering quality.

  • Provide strong technical leadership, perform code reviews, and coach your team members to have a positive impact on the organization to deliver secure and scalable products that meet our customers’ needs.

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and leaders to translate our vision and customer-centric roadmap into working software. Break down complex customer roadmaps into smaller chunks and lead the iterative technical design and implementation process. Explain the benefits and progress using data.

  • Be a thoughtful technical voice within the organization, aiding in deep architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality solutions and engineering processes. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Support teams to ensure successful delivery of our entire software solution.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, data science, natural sciences or related career experience required.

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, enterprise software architecture and design, and software product delivery.

  • 3+ years of engineering technical leadership or architect experience.

  • 3+ years of experience developing or deploying cloud software with public cloud providers: Microsoft Azure, GCP (Google Cloud Platform), AWS (Amazon Web Services).

  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, delivering and operating critical, high-traffic and data-centric enterprise applications, including proficiency with software design patterns, systems design and architectures, data modeling, data analysis (customer-facing dashboards), and proactively addressing security, performance, and reliability concerns.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining high software quality standards by instituting code quality and security standards, TDD/BDD processes, automation, tools, training, and engineering culture.

  • Strong project planning and execution skills to oversee successful planning, design, delivery, and release of the Quoting and Sales features of our product.

  • Skilled at translating customer outcomes and requirements to technical solutions that deliver high value to customers.

  • Experience in creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale.

  • Provide technical leadership – whether that’s writing/reviewing code or technical documents, participating in or leading incidents, or triaging/troubleshooting bugs and processes.

  • Highly Skilled with: Apex or C# or Java, Salesforce Lighting Web Components (LWC), Flows, Permissions, SQL & NoSQL databases, HTML, JavaScript, MS Azure, GitHub / Git, Docker or other containers, Jest, RPA and/or automation frameworks.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Experience building, delivering or implementing enterprise-grade Quoting, Sales, E-Commerce, CPQ, Marketing or CRM software.

  • Experience with designing, documenting, developing, delivering data-centric enterprise applications for both multi-tenant distributed systems and large-scale single-tenant deployments. Deep knowledge of concepts such as modularization, code-reusability, clean code, SOLID, object-oriented design, domain-driven-design, microservices, containerization, OAuth security, OWASP security standards, elasticity, and high availability.

  • Experience with Test-Driven-Development (TDD) or Behavior-Driven-Development (BDD) and coaching engineers on automating unit testing, automating documentation, and maintaining high product quality standards.
