Purpose of Position

The department of Physics & Astrophysics at the University of North Dakota is seeking a teaching assistant professor. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position contingent on availability of funding.

The Physics & Astrophysics Department is housed in the College of Arts & Sciences and currently offers a BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Physics and minors in Physics and Astrophysics.

Duties & Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will receive a contract with 100% effort dedicated to teaching-related duties. They will be expected to a) teach physics courses across the undergraduate curriculum and b) in collaboration with other Physics and Astrophysics faculty, develop and teach new courses intended for professional development of high-school physics teachers.

Minimum Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. in Physics by 08/15/2025
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level via face-to-face
• Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses via online delivery
• Experience developing new undergraduate and/or graduate courses
