Talent Acquisition Manager - Engineering & Non-Frontline

Leading a small team, you will have full accountability for the strategy and delivery of talent acquisition across all Engineering and non-frontline hiring for Arriva UK Bus. You will direct and implement attraction and selection strategies to meet the demand of the business, promoting a direct sourcing approach to demonstrate cost avoidance. 

 

Working closely with the business, you will define the ongoing workforce plan and future skills demand and own the early careers strategy to deliver this. You will design and implement strategies to identify, recruit, train and retain emerging talent. With a dedicated Early Careers Lead, you will oversee the end-to-end delivery of the strategy and provide the governance and oversight of progress and performance. 

You will be a key member of the Talent Acquisition Leadership Team and will play a significant role in delivery change and evolution to the function.  

 

This role is a hybrid position that will require regular travel to the Midlands, London and depots across the UK where needed. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Delivery of the full end to end Talent Acquisition recruitment strategy for Engineering and all non-frontline roles (including management / leadership, commercial, finance, HR etc) 

  • Ownership of early careers programmes, focusing on attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. 

  • Develop a comprehensive early careers strategy aligned with the company's objectives. 

  • Strategically partner with stakeholders to understand future skills needs and develop a workforce plan to meet these. 

  • Lead the Talent Acquisition Team to deliver an effective recruitment service and managing performance proactively 

  • Support the development of a compelling Employee Value Proposition that aligns to the Arriva brand and values and positively influences external candidates to join Arriva UK Bus. 

  • Personally manage the end-to-end recruitment of senior hires 

  • Embed and proactively manage the reporting and achievement of KPIs 

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and proactively managing communications and performance reporting 

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to sourcing candidates to avoid incurring 3rd party costs 

  • Support the development of and maintain ownership of workforce plans for the business area and manage performance against the delivery of these 

  • Lead on projects and initiatives that will drive continuous improvement across the team and businesses 

  • Manage key projects across the function as part of the Talent Acquisition strategy, including EVP, Employer Brand, digital attraction 

  • Actively partner with stakeholders to develop Talent Acquisition People plans 

  • Work closely with HRBPs on the broader people agenda and key People metrics: Turnover etc 

  • Support stakeholder groups in embracing and delivering change to drive a positive culture of engagement and retention 

  • Act as a Super User for the ATS (Workday) and other recruitment systems 

  • Develop, coach and mentor the Talent Acquisition Team 

What we’re looking for 

  • Proven track record of leading high performing recruitment teams to deliver engineering / specialist hiring within a similar industry 

  • Experience of managing early careers strategies – including programme management / development 

  • Experience of designing and implementing talent acquisition strategies using both online and offline approaches. 

  • Campaign and budget management experience with the ability to evidence ROI and source effectiveness. 

  • Project management skills and proven experience of delivering change within a team and business. 

  • Continuous improvement mindset.  

  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Data-driven and comfortable analysing and presenting findings. 

  • Experience of developing an EVP / Employer Brand. 

  • Full UK driving licence. 

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary up to £60,000

  • Company car or car allowance (£6,000)

  • Annual performance bonus up to 20%

  • 25 days holiday + option to purchase a further 10 days

  • 6% company pension contribution or allowance
