Systems Administrator

The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to processes and standards.

May perform one or more of the following:

Perform daily monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, data, systems and key processes, reviewing system logs, verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups, patching cycles and CMDB Discovery updates; takes corrective action for any exceptions found

Install new / upgrade existing systems and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements

Contribute to and maintain system standards

Develop and maintain installation, configuration and training procedures
Participate in ITSM processes including management of incident, change and request tickets and assist in problem analysis and takes corrective measures to address root cause

Research and recommend innovation of operations processes with a focus on automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. Working knowledge of a scripting language (i.e. Perl, Python, VBScript etc.)

Provide Tier II/III support of systems, storage and applications per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues

Repair and recover from hardware or software failures

Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies

Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures

Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor’s degree with a technical major, such as Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience

4+ years experience directly supporting computer technolgy

Systems Administration certification in Unix or Microsoft preferred

Knowledge of a scripting language (ie Perl, Python, VBScript)

Knowledge of VRA

Effectively communicate information to a wide variety of technical and non-technical employees

Proficient with the MS Office Suite of products, flowcharting, document management, and graphics creation/editing software

Skill to report technical information in clear and concise language, appropriate for message and audience

Excellent analytical and problem - solving skills for simple to moderately complex problems

Excellent organization and time management skills

Meet organization best practices, expectations, and standards

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Is aware of risks and escalate as appropriate

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties

Preferred Skills

Experience leveraging Java

Knowledge of API integrations

Knowledge of YAML and Freemarker

Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS, Groovy

Experience with AWS, Linux, Unix, Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTPD

Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline tools like Jenkins a plus

Able to troubleshoot and find root cause

Understand Magnolia Features – or ability to find/read/understand them at a high level

Stays connected to Enterprise Architecture for architectural decisions

Keep up to date on new Magnolia releases and features as they come out

Manage and upkeep user access and permissions

Willingness to learn and take on additional apps, EngageOne in particular

Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Salary Ranges: $60,000.00 - $103,500.00
