System Engineer – Print Solutions

Job Description

System Engineer will be responsible for evaluating, recommending, architecting, implementing and supporting systems in the manufacturing and lab print environment including label and document printing using infrastructure applications such as LRS VPSX, MS Windows print servers. Additional responsibilities include enterprise support of printer configuration, management, security configuration and lifecycle management. Development of tools supporting automation and monitoring of the infrastructure is also part of the responsibilities.

The incumbent will be responsible for interfacing directly with manufacturing and research business area stakeholders to gain understanding of requirements and to establish and communicate standards for printing in the manufacturing and lab environments. Responsibilities include establishing partnerships with hardware and software vendors in order to set global standards, and perform lifecycle management of printers and software systems. The engineer will also look to strengthen the governance around device configuration and security standards including purchasing and implementation guidelines for our business partners.

The engineer will also work with the Print Product Manager to adopt and set a vision, roadmap, manage the backlog and set and meet objectives and key results (OKRs) that align with our IT and business goals.

The nature of the position requires excellent oral and written communication skills and proven collaboration skills to work in complex team situations.  

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years working experience in supporting IT infrastructure services or IT operations

  • 2 years hands-on experience as an engineer supporting enterprise solutions in a global organization

  • IT Service Delivery Management: ability to lead the delivery of services, ensuring that agreed service levels, security requirements and other quality standards are met

  • Change Control: ability to develop, document, and implement changes based on requests for change (in agile or traditional/waterfall business approaches)

  • Experience delivering of project, business, cost and schedule objectives.

  • Incident Management: ability to develop procedures for handling incidents/issues and develop support agreements with support teams for critical business processes.

  • Expertise in printing solutions to provide internal consulting in support of manufacturing and research areas.

  • Ability to architect and deploy highly available, scalable, and efficient print solutions

  • Accountable for ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with applicable policies and SDLC.

  • Eagerness to adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

  • Scripting knowledge to support task automation, with a preference for PowerShell.

  • Capable of network and server environment troubleshooting.
