Overview
Remote Position (OR/WA Only)
This is a remote position – incumbents, who reside in Oregon or Washington only. There may be occasional situations that require work to be performed on-site at an assigned Legacy Health location. All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new hire paperwork. This position may require initial training and orientation to be site-based, before transitioning to the remote schedule.

Supports the activities of Health Information Management (HIM) in medical record functions. Under the direction of the department Manager, oversees operations and employee performance. Exercises discretionary judgment in solving problems and working with employees. Utilizes working knowledge of applicable health information regulations, laws, policies, procedures, and general principles and practices of HIM including Analysis/Suspension process, EMPI, Chart Corrections and Amendments and External auditors, Release of Information (ROI), and Scanning. Regularly travels to multiple work locations to provide on-site supervision.
Qualifications
Education:
- Successful completion of a medical terminology course required.
- B.A. or A.A. in related field preferred.
- Completion of or actively enrolled in a RHIT or RHIA program preferred.
Experience:
- Three years of HIM experience in a health care setting required; two years in a coordinator/supervisor role preferred.
- Experience in HIM operations (transcription, chart analysis/deficiency, EMPI/chart corrections and amendments, remote access for external auditors, coding, billing, scanning and release of information preferred.
- Experience with the revenue cycle and an understanding of the financial and business impact of data integrity issues preferred.
- Experienced user of current software applications (Echart, Microsoft Office –Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Power Point, Cerner Millennium, EMPI, Epic, OnBase and Epic Scanning) preferred.
Skills:
- Net typing of 40 wpm and excellent PC-based computer skills.
- Excellent organizational, research and customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal/written and professional communication skills that promote cooperation and teamwork.
- Demonstrated ability to do systematic, thorough problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload for effective and efficient resolution of customers, system and user needs.
Licensure
Licensure:
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) through (AHIMA) American Health Information Management Association preferred.
Pay Range
