SUMMARY:

MCAD is seeking a Summer Residency Coordinator for the Master of Arts in Creative Leadership (MACL) program. The Residency Program Coordinator is responsible for the organization and implementation of a one-week on-campus residency for creative leaders. This role involves managing logistics, coordinating internally with various MCAD departments and externally with community partners, and ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for residency participants. The Residency Coordinator must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution. 


DETAILS: This is a temporary contract position paid $32.24/hour. This position begins May 19, working remotely for 9 weeks at 5 hours per week (45 hours leading up to the residency) plus 40 hours onsite at MCAD and in the local community during the residency (July 25-August 1).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in weekly planning meetings with the MACL director, MCAD leadership and the residency contributors.
  • Work from a detailed project timeline and checklist to ensure all aspects of the residency are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communicate important details to faculty, guest speakers, and industry professionals regarding the residency schedule, location, logistics, technology needs, etc. 
  • Serve as a welcoming presence throughout the residency for students, guests and contributors.
  • Coordinate with Housing Director and summer Resident Assistants to address any housing concerns as they arise.
  • Provide clear communication regarding schedules, resources, and expectations with students, guests and contributors.
  • Coordinate travel, accommodations, and campus logistics for students, alumni, contributors and guests assuring that individual needs are met.
  • Coordinate with external community partners and vendors in accordance with the schedule of events and communicate updates timely.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating internally within multiple MCAD departments (Resident Assistants, Campus Safety, Campus Maintenance, Housing and Operations, MCAD cafe, Marketing dept, Service Bureau, AV & tech support, Help Desk, and more) onboarding each department of the schedule of events and encouraging actions of collective hospitality.
  • Coordinate event spaces, technology, catering, and other logistical needs for all residency activities.
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of spaces (student lodging, cafe, support in classrooms) ensuring they are functional and inviting.
  • Manage day-to-day operations during the residency, addressing participant needs and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Collect informal feedback from students and faculty that identify areas for improvement and respond as appropriate. Communicate feedback to the MACL director for support and guidance as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities, required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for relationship-building, required.
  • Solution-focused mindset with the ability to remain calm and flexible under pressure, required.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, required, with experience in Canvas, preferred.
  • Experience in event coordination, ora similar role, preferred. 
  • Experience in the creative industries, preferred.
  • Experience managing residencies or multi-day events involving diverse participants, preferred.
  • Familiarity with MCAD services and departments, mission, vision, and values, preferred.

ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position may also require lifting and pulling or pushing carts of supplies. BACKGROUND: Founded in 1886, Minneapolis College of Art and Design is located in the rich creative community of the Twin Cities.
