Our electoral work focuses on winning governing majorities in the states by making state legislative campaigns more effective and better-funded. Our policy work provides nonpartisan tools and resources that connect a diverse community of state lawmakers committed to improving lives for the people they serve. We do it because we believe that state legislatures are the strongest force for change in this country.

LOCATION: Remote, with no expected travel. COMPENSATION: $22 per hour worked.HOURS: All TSP Summer Interns are required to work core hours of 11am - 3pm EST, Monday - Friday.DEADLINE TO APPLY: May 17th, 2024

We are looking for exceptional people with a variety of academic backgrounds from colleges to join us as 2024 Summer Interns. Position Summary:The goal of the Internship Program is to provide a well-rounded experience for interns that provides an opportunity to see the impact of your work. We are committed to setting interns up for success by providing training opportunities where you develop a well-rounded set of hard & soft skills. As an intern, you will gain valuable educational experience in politics and policy at the state legislative level, and will be provided with opportunities to make connections with past cohorts and partners to support the development of your career. This summer, we are looking for an intern to gain experience with the following team:
Lawmaker Engagement Team: This team works to make it easier for state lawmakers to improve lives by developing tools and resources designed specifically for the context of state legislatures. Their policy work is based on evidence and research, and responsive to the unique needs of state lawmakers.
What You Can Expect During the Recruitment and Hiring Process:Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Selected applicants will be moved forward to phone screening. The next step is a virtual team interview, accompanied by a written exercise. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, May 17th, 2024. To be considered a complete application, one must include a resume and have answered the five Pre-Application questions below. The latter must include why you are interested in working at The States Project. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Apply

- Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Conducting research as assigned by the Lawmaker Engagement team
- Supporting the development and delivery of policy resources and lawmaker programming
- Monitoring policy and legislative trends and priorities
- Supporting the various verticals within the Lawmaker Engagement team
