Department Overview:
The Prevention and Campus Health Initiatives unit provides population-based prevention and health promotion strategy to the UW–Madison community. UHS prevention professionals work to address important campus health issues such as sexual and relationship violence, alcohol and other drug misuse, suicide, and wellness through a health equity and social justice lens.Anticipated Start Date:

1Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a UW-Madison student (preference given to a student who can work over the summer through at least August 15, 2025 or longer)- Familiarity with University Health Services and Residence Life
- Strong commitment to creating a mental health supporting environment
Highly qualified candidates will have:
- Successful experience as a House Fellow at UW-Madison
- Completed courses in social work, education, psychology, and/or health promotion
- Experience using Canvas, Box, Zoom, Qualtrics, and/or other university-sponsored technologies
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to effectively manage time while working on multiple projects
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to contribute ideas and feedback in a clear, respectful, and constructive manner
- Knowledge and understanding of suicide prevention, mental health, and Residence Life policies/procedures
- Ability to discuss and communicate sensitive health topics
- Self-motivated, able to take initiative
- Adaptability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated experience in creating engaging educational materials and presentations in PowerPoint and Google Slides
- Experience in writing and producing video content (strongly preferred)
- Participation in or facilitation of focus groups (strongly preferred)
Position Summary/Job Duties:
- Assist with creating content for prevention and health promotion education programs on suicide prevention in conjunction with campus resources and community partners
- Support outreach and education about mental health resources and services
- Research and review literature on topics related to suicide prevention and mental health
- Co-facilitate small group discussions and/or focus groups
- Attend suicide prevention and mental health promotion workgroups, webinars, trainings, and additional meetings
*Although this is not a project or program assistant position and does not provide tuition remission, graduate students are welcome to apply.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to physically attend meetings on campus when necessary
- Ability to use a computer
