Student Web Marketing Assistant

Description
Under the general direction of the UX Design Lead for the Office of Marketing & Communications, the student web marketing assistant position is responsible for assisting with website requests and web project support for the UW Bothell website. Student assistants will work closely with colleagues within the UW Bothell Office of Marketing & Communications.
Examples of tasks that may be asked of this student assistant involves assisting staff with updating and maintaining web content (menus, text, links, media, etc.) through WoPress, creating and reporting on website analytics reports (Google Analytics, dubbot, etc.), assisting with the request inbox, communicating with clients across campus, and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with managing the office email inbox; providing timely responses to incoming requests when appropriate; providing accurate and timely logging of questions, requests and resolutions through the Asana project-tracking tool.
- Escalate technical issues as appropriate following established procedures.
- Assist with the monitoring and fixing of accessibility issues on the website, such as broken links and inaccessible content formatting.
- Organize, prepare, and post content for the University of Washington Bothell websites as assigned.
- Review, recommend, and implement website changes as assigned.
- Utilize superior customer service skills via written communication
- Review and update branding, accessibility and website documentation as assigned
- Maintain general knowledge of supported products/services and utilize downtime to improve skills or complete special projects.
- Complete other tasks and projects as assigned
PAY
This position pays $20.76 an hour.
HOURS
- Min 10 hours per week with potential for 12 hours max during the academic quarter and summer.
- Create your own schedule (shifts are Monday - Friday, cannot start earlier than 9 A.M. and will end by 5 P.M.)
- Our office is open during interim breaks but hours vary according to word load.
- Shifts are approved by the student's supervisor.
- Shift requests must meet the expectations laid out in training documentation covered upon hire.
- Most shifts are remote but students must be able to come to campus and work in person as needed.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits during quarters of employment, Graduate students at least 4 credits.
- Training requirement: All new student employees must also complete UW's online Title IX course about preventing and responding to sex-and gender-based violence and harassment upon hire.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a desire and aptitude to learn website support and user experience processes and frameworks
- Professional, respectful and an overall pleasant demeanor; must be able to work well with a variety of people and personalities.
- Highly independent and motivated self-starter
- A high attention to detail and deadlines
- Be able to communicate effectively over email, video calls, and in-person to provide a high level of teamwork.
- Great written communication (ie: knowledge of proper formatting, spelling, grammar, etc.) skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment where you must be flexible and learn quickly
- Good punctuality and reliable attendance
- Ability to work and learn with a team and independently
DESIRED SKILLS
- Passion for digital marketing and media communication
- Passion for ensuring digital information is accessible to all
- Passion for user experience and an understanding of its value to website design and development
- Prior experience in a customer service position
- Prior web editing experience
- Proficient in using Photoshop (or similar software) and Microsoft Office
- Experience writing technical documentation
- Operating system experience: Windows10 or Mac
- Additional digital marketing skills (video editing with Final Cut Pro, photography, etc.)
