CONTINGENT ON CUSTOMER INTERVIEW

The Structural Stress Analyst will support the Orion Stress Team to provide stress analysis documentation for the verification of the NASA Artemis 2 vehicle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Specific expertise in development and fabrication of space vehicle finite element model(s) and analyses.
  • Demonstrated performance in execution of structures design, development, and analyses processes
  • Proficient in various levels of modeling (i.e., from hands calcs to highly complex FEMs).
  • Expertise in modal analysis experience, determination of system responses to harmonic and random vibrations, and modeling abstractions for joints and various elements.
  • Perform stress analysis for assessment of dynamics trades.
  • Develop model organization approaches and implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • This position requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical/structural engineering or a related field.
  • Mist have 10+ years of recent and related experience.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (Nastran).
  • Experience with classical hand calculations.
  • Experience with fatigue analysis.

DESIRED:

  • Experience with FEMAP
  • Experience with Slim
  • Knowledge of fracture analysis and NASA's fracture control system
  • Experience with aeroshell and/or thermal protection system analysis
  • Experience in performing design and/or requirements change impact analysis.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is located in Houston, Texas, or Denver, Colorado.
  • This position offers a hybrid or a remote option.
  • This position offers potential 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
  • This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.


DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.


STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • All of Bastion's employees must be team players.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

SALARY RANGE:

$100,000 - $170,000 annually
