About The Position

This Strategic Communications Manager drives strategic communications activities that accurately position The Geneva Foundation (Geneva) for success. This is a highly visible role that will work closely with Geneva’s Executive and Leadership teams, Board of Directors and associated advisory groups, and key stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategies that enhance brand visibility, build stakeholder engagement, and strengthen advocacy efforts. With expertise in written communications, market research, and brand development, the Strategic Communications Manager leads the development and execution of proactive communications plans to amplify the organization's influence and reputation. The ideal candidate is strategic, detail-oriented, relationship-driven, proactive, and passionate about promoting Geneva’s impact, thriving in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

This is a remote Corporate position. Candidates located near the National Capital Region preferred but not required.

Salary Range

$95,000 - $100,000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic communications programs to support the Executive and Leadership teams, the Board of Directors and related advisory groups, and key stakeholders
  • Craft and execute comprehensive communications strategies to support government relations initiatives, including the development of talking points, position papers, and presentations
  • Support the development and execution of a topnotch media relations strategy to elevate Geneva’s reputation and overall organizational goals
  • Ideate, write, edit, and deploy communication content on behalf of Geneva’s Executive and Leadership teams
  • Conduct market research to distill complex topics into actionable insights that drive growth
  • Develop and execute branding strategies to strengthen Geneva’s presence in the market
  • Implement Board engagement initiatives, to include meeting management, development of onboarding materials and development of Board and committee meeting materials.
  • Represent Geneva at meetings with other stakeholders, non-profit, academic, and industry organizations
  • Attend conferences, trade shows, site visits as required; and represent Geneva with the highest degree of professionalism
  • Maintain strong understanding of Geneva’s goals, strategies, programs, and capabilities to ensure they are integrated into communications activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public affairs, or related equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated strong analytical writing and verbal communications skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to coordinate complex projects, prioritize assignments, meet tight deadlines, and regularly report on status
  • Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to develop stakeholder interest
  • Experience supporting or advising senior leaders and executives
  • Highly organized and skilled in synthesizing complex materials
  • Ability to connect individual communications activities to higher-level strategies
  • Ability to write story-driven content about complex technical subjects and projects that engage target audiences and enhances Geneva’s image
