Illumina is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Visual Designer who demonstrates a strong understanding of design systems and how to apply strategic design thinking across multiple channels including web, email, social, event, and sales. The ideal candidate highly values collaboration and is able to communicate clear design solutions while factoring in the implications of a global brand.  

 

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee projects from creative conception to production 

• Design for a wide range of projects, ensuring brand consistency across all executions, including product launch materials, social channels, and event materials 

• Contribute to the evolution of the Illumina brand by exploring novel solutions supporting brand and marketing goals 

• Collaborate with marketing, product design, and commercial teams on evergreen communications and launch announcements for new products and features 

• Provide direction for agency partners, visual designers, 2D/3D artists, and motion designers 

• Ensure all visual content aligns with branding guidelines and contributes to a cohesive brand identity 

• Help set the brand vision through partnership with business and product stakeholders 

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent professional experience 

• Strong portfolio showcasing experience in corporate brand design systems across various mediums, including an online portfolio demonstrating the complete design process 

• 5+ years in design roles at agencies, studios, or in-house 

• You have hands-on experience with established design systems to create scalable, consistent experiences 

• Excellence in design aesthetics, including typography, color, layout, and composition 

• Proficient in design software: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop 

• Strong strategic, conceptual, and executional skills 

• Effective communication of concepts and design rationale 

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and iterate quickly 

• Strong interpersonal skills: listening, negotiating, and decision-making 

• Proven ability to foster strong working relationships with team members and cross-functional partners 

 

The estimated base salary range for the Staff Visual Designer, Creative Lab role based in the United States of America is: $105,600 - $158,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
