Staff Technologist

About the Role: 

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, being a  Staff Technologist would involve working across Redpanda teams, and directly with customers and partners to develop and validate solutions and designs. 

You Will: 

• Drive development for technical thought leadership, technical deep dives for new product announcements, and new architecture patterns(ie. Iceberg, AI, multi-modal streaming), new partner integrations (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, Clickhouse, Veverica, etc.) 
• Be responsible for solutions development that requires coding and configuration of industry reference architectures with special emphasis on connectivity and observability use cases(ie. Finserv, manufacturing, adtech, IoT, AI)
• Develop prototypes and demos to showcase how Redpanda can bring value to customers. Provide input on the Redpanda product roadmap and contribute to Redpanda features.
• Represent Redpanda at industry conferences and events.
• Write 3-4 blogs/month used to educate and inspire technical audiences about Redpanda capabilities, the role of streaming data building new classes of applications, or new innovations and design patterns.
• Build and publish new Redpanda services with end-to-end sample applications that encompasses Redpanda Connect YAML code, broker configuration settings, data retention modes, and recorded performance characteristics to assist new developer adoption of Redpanda

You Have: 

• 7+ yrs of experience in data engineering, working with streaming data applications, stream processing and big data systems
• Substantial experience in leveraging best-in-class technologies in designing data architectures to solve high-scale data challenges
• Extensive knowledge of industry standard big data technologies and industry trends
• Passion for engaging with the developer community to educate and inspire through demos, solution architectures, blog articles and presentations
• The ability to work autonomously in a fully distributed environment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

U.S. base salary range for this role is $210,000 - $250,000 (CA, NY, WA) and  $200,000 - $235,000 (other US locations). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. As a remote-first company, we strive to consider each candidate's job-related skills, location, experience, relevant education or training to determine individual base salary.
