Staff Data Engineer, Infrastructure

The Infrastructure Data Science & Engineering team’s mission is to provide actionable insights into Pinterest’s infrastructure - essentially the technical foundation (“bottom of the stack”) that all of Pinterest runs on. We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to be the tech lead for the Data Engineering pod, which owns the pipelines that provide our data and visibility into Pinterest’s infrastructure cost and usage. 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Define the data engineering vision and roadmap to deepen actionable insights into Pinterest’s infrastructure cost and usage.
  • Lead the team in developing production-ready pipelines, tooling, and scalable systems that empower teams to understand and optimize their infrastructure usage. 

 

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience working with large-scale ETL systems (implementation, strategy, and maintenance), building clean, maintainable code in a production environment. 
  • Tech leadership experience. Being able to independently define a roadmap, align with stakeholders, and lead a team of more junior engineers to execute. 
  • Experience with data workflows (such as Airflow), data modeling, ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Load) concepts, and patterns for efficient data governance. 
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, Scala, etc.
