Our Staff Software Engineers identify key strategic technical initiatives, deliver significant value to our customers and business, and set the tone for engineering excellence and culture. In this role focused on Core Platform, you’ll build solid infrastructure foundations and high-leverage developer tools that enable Vanta’s engineering teams to quickly create and improve high-quality products.
What you’ll do as a Staff Engineer at Vanta:
Identify, scope, and lead large technical projects related to our build system, developer workflows / experience, and key infrastructure and services
Lead design reviews and communicate constraints to ensure we are making the right trade-offs
Pave the path for new critical infrastructure, enabling us to stay ahead of continued rapid growth
Design, develop, and own new product functionality and infrastructure leveraging modern frameworks and tooling (TypeScript, Terraform, Node.js)
Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
Act as a cultural beacon, setting an example for effective, collaborative engineering and helping mentor junior team members
How to be successful in this role:
At least 8 years of industry experience as a software engineer
Led initiatives to improve developer experience & resolve infrastructure challenges related to scale, reliability, and performance
Served as a technical lead for large projects (6+ months in length), including defining the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions
Built successful SaaS product foundations for both startup and enterprise users
Upleveled teams of engineers by mentoring and leading by example
Experience working at rapidly scaling startups …
