Staff Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure

Browsers are unique in that they are one of the only pieces of software that you share with your parents as well as your kids. Which makes sense, they're our doorway to the most important things — through them we socialize with loved ones, work on our passion projects, and explore our curiosities. But on their own, they don’t actually do a whole lot, they’re kind of just there. They don’t help us organize our messy lives or make it easier to compose our ideas. We believe that the browser could do so much more — it can empower and support the amazing things we do on the internet. That’s why we’re building one: a browser that can help us grow, create, and stay curious.

To accomplish this lofty task, we’re building a diverse team of people from different backgrounds and experiences. As a Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure on the Developer Experience team, you’ll enhance engineering productivity by improving our CI/CD pipelines and find creative ways to improve build and PR validation times. We’re multi-cloud from the start (AWS, GCP and Azure)! You’ll help us plan ahead for scale and speed whether that means building our own data center or parallelizing build tasks while we build a native Swift app on Mac and Windows.

Overall you will...

• Scope and spearhead technical projects across our Windows, Mac, iOS, Chromium, and Swift toolchain builds related to our cloud and build infrastructure

• Manage and deploy new hardware and software for CI systems.

• Build observability and monitoring into our infrastructure

• Monitor and optimize our CI/CD pipelines to ensure engineers stay productive

• Build and maintain our AWS, GCP, and Azure infrastructure using Terraform

• Improve the deployment and management of our Tailscale VPN

• Identify opportunities to iterate on our architecture to improve efficiency, developer productivity, and reduce cost
