Staff Engineer - Solar Energy Technical Lead

Our Solar Energy Technical Lead (Staff Engineer) leads the technical development of both methodology and tools for the solar energy desktop team for primarily independent engineering scopes, investigating cutting-edge solar industry advancements and modeling procedures.
You will also conduct solar resource and solar energy estimates, with responsibilities for high quality assessments and responsive answers to client questions
- Manage and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Guide the technical strategy and modeling development for the solar energy team
- Work with the team to identify and implement technical innovations
- Mentor and train junior staff and assume responsibility for the technical growth of the team
- Timely and efficient completion of high-quality solar energy analysis work.
- Carry out pre-construction energy analyses, including:
- Compilation, validation and analysis of meteorological data for solar resource assessments
- Evaluation of project constraints and risks
- Estimation of plant losses and calculation of assessment uncertainties
- Generation of Energy Production Estimates
- Creation of Energy Production Reports for Clients
- Work effectively with colleagues to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products while working collaboratively with other teams and business units when needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients on complex technical issues
- University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program plus 10-15 years directly related work experience.
- Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.
- Working knowledge of conformity standards in use in areas of expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts in use in areas of expertise,
- including application to complex, new, or unusual products.
- Working knowledge of industry issues, needs, and problems.
