Job DescriptionCandidate must have a minimum of 3 years of legal experience in a law firm or in an in-house legal department with responsibility for employment matters, including employment agreement drafting, reviewing and negotiation, HR policy/compliance related matters, immigration matters, etc. Strong drafting skills are required. Familiarity with health care provider employment related matters preferred, but not required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Advise business partners on a broad range of employee matters including, but not limited to, hiring/recruitment, promotions, performance and absenteeism management, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements (executives, physician, advanced practice providers), severance agreements, and other employment related contracts in a timely and expedient manner
- Work with the HR team with respect to policy updates and other written HR materials
- Stay up to date in employment related laws/new regulations and communicating such changes to senior leadership and others as needed
- Work collaboratively with the HR Team and other business leaders on various employment related matters, including but not limited to physician disciplinary matters, related investigations, and EEOC and other agency responses
- Work with HR Team and other business leaders regarding various aspects of labor law, including negotiating and implementing collective bargaining agreements and disciplinary matters
- Support HR with immigration/visa matters for employees
- Other duties as assigned by the VP-Lead Employment Counsel, SVP, Deputy General Counsel and HR Leadership
General Job Functions:
- Review contracts, conduct employment related research, provide legal advice and other legal assistance.
- This position involves providing legal services for various departments within the organization and for its various clients.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Dexterity of hands and fingers; Endurance (continuous typing, etc.); Good concentration/intensity
Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:
- J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York, or Connecticut
- 3-5 years’ experience in a law firm. In-house legal experience in a health system/management organization preferred
- Must be proficient in MS Word and have a working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with Contracts Management System preferred (MediTract, iContracts, ContractPodAI, etc.)
- Ability to communicate competently, maturely and professionally with clients, outside parties, organization’s leadership, physicians, etc.
- Excellent judgment and discretion, especially regarding confidential and sensitive matters
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Strong research and analysis skills with excellent attention to detail. Familiarity with Lexis or Westlaw.
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize heavy workload and multitask, while ensuring timely responses and accountability
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Travel:
- Travel to and from offices and satellites as needed.
- Travel to outside meetings as needed.
For Colorado Residents only: This is an exempt position. The base compensation range for this role is $98,300 - $122,900. At VillageMD, compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. The selected candidate will be eligible for a valuable company benefits plan, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401k plan.
