The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the company’s accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data and compliance with company policies. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the accounting team and other departments to support the company’s financial processes and goals.
Responsibilities
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Post journal entries and ensure the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
Review, classify, and record expenses while ensuring they align with company policies and budget guidelines.
Provide documentation and assistance during internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent work experience of 2+ years in accounting role.
2+ years of accounting experience in a similar role.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero) and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Familiarity with GAAP principles.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
High level of accuracy and analytical skills to ensure financial records are error-free.
Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve accounting discrepancies and inefficiencies.
What Makes You Stand Out
Progress toward CPA certification.
Experience in a start-up or fast-paced environment is a plus.
Experience with robotics, manufacturing, or technology companies.
Exposure to inventory management or cost accounting processes.
Demonstrated ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
