Meet the team:
This opening is for the SW Test Development Engineer 3 on the Automation & Tools team, under the Dexcom R&D Validation and Verification (V&V) Organization. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in software and/or quality engineering to join our team. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of frameworks and tools that support best practices in software development and quality automation at Dexcom. This includes planning and implementation of quality engineering tasks as well as building tools that empower validation of all our Dexcom CGM Mobile Apps. This is an opportunity to join an expanding team to establish and optimize best in class test engineering practices around a complex product portfolio. Ultimately, this role will be pivotal in enhancing quality for our life-saving technology by automating manual processes, reducing the need for manual intervention, optimizing the use of test infrastructure, and expediting the testing process for the frameworks that validate all the mobile applications in the Dexcom portfolio.
Where you come in:
Contributing to automated frameworks and architecture: develop automated solutions for Mobile App testing on real devices and emulated environments.
Tool Development: Create and enhance tools for configuring and controlling Dexcom devices and Apps, including BT emulation, log parsing, failure analysis, and artifact gathering automation
Collaboration and Sprint Integration: Work closely with QA and Development teams to integrate automated testing into each sprint, ensuring tracking of automation tasks as part of sprint delivery.
API and Endpoint Development: Develop endpoints and APIs for automatic updates to web portals, sending notifications, and generating documentation.
Strategic Planning: Identify major scaling opportunities and formulate a roadmap for automating Dexcom Apps testing and validation across various Android and iOS platforms.
Advocacy for Automation Platforms: Promote the use of available automation platforms, focusing on native, low-code, and no-code development approaches.
Tool Integrations: Create integrations between various tools such as Jira, Testrail, Slack, GitHub, and Datadog to automate workflows and data transfers.
Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the team to pinpoint areas for improvement and track the ROI metrics resulting from automation.
Mentorship and Team Building: Mentor junior engineers, contribute to team development, and focus on continuous learning and growth.
Collaborate with development teams, QA, PM, PO and regulatory to define project scope and meet committed deliverables.
What makes you successful:
Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with:
Object-oriented backend languages - Java, Python, Objective-C, etc.
Mobile application development - Kotlin and/or Swift
Framework Development: Experience in building or enhancing frameworks for testing Mobile and Web applications.
Mobile Testing Expertise: Practical experience in evaluating Appium and native mobile testing frameworks like Espresso and XCUI Test.
Back-End Tool Development: Hands-on experience in developing tools and infrastructure for testing backend APIs, RestAPIs, and cloud services.
Integration Experience: Proficiency in integrating tools like Jira, Testrail, GitHub, web portals, databases, and AWS/GCP services, facilitating data transfer and management.
Automated Test Suite Management: Experience in building and managing automated test suites for use in CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc) and QA for comprehensive system testing.
Cloud Solutions Knowledge: Experience with cloud solutions (AWS or GCP) for various functionalities (e.g., compute, storage, authentication) to develop dashboards, micro-services, and tools.
Data Analysis Skills: Must have experience in manipulating and analyzing data in various formats (JSON, XML, Text, CSV, Excel, etc.).

Experience and Education Requirements:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or Master’s degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience.
Flex Workplace: Your primary location will be a home office. You will not have an assigned workstation and will work with your manager to determine office visit needs. You must live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km).
