Sr. Staff Data Scientist
Our team is looking for a Sr. Staff Data Scientist to join the Insights Engine organization to help build and maintain production machine learning systems. You’ll work on large scale satellite imagery processing pipelines, develop high quality datasets, and train models for a wide range of applications. The position requires experience collecting and cleaning data, training and evaluating models, documenting performance, and making optimizations for production use cases.

Day-to-day with your colleagues:
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day data science work that fuels the insights engine: evaluating model performance, building datasets, and training new models, primarily for computer vision tasks, but also expanding into new domains and sources.
You’ll contribute to many of the tools that improve our ability to work with our models and data and enhance our MLOps ecosystem.
Driven by our product management partners, you’ll develop algorithmic solutions to complex customer problems, generating the machinery that deliver unparalleled geospatial insights.
You’ll work on problems like object detection and spatiotemporal analytics while working with Maxar’s high resolution satellites imagery, as well as other remote sensing and geospatial data sources.
Through collaboration with our Experiences and R&D teams, you’ll build data science systems that are guaranteed to directly support user and mission critical workflows.
You’ll collaborate with our geographically dispersed team primarily via Slack and Microsoft Teams.
Requirements/Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, etc.), or equivalent experience.
8+ years of development experience
Must be a U.S. Person.
Strong Python skills!
Deep understanding of computer vision methods and practices
Recent experience with some of the following technologies and practices:
ML tools like PyTorch, HuggingFace, Scikit-Learn, Lightning, etc.
Database and storage technologies like PostgreSQL, Prometheus, S3, etc.
Object Oriented Programming methodologies
GitHub, GitLab, …
