Title: Sr. Software Engineer
Overview:As a Senior Software Engineer at Cleo, you will act as a consistently strong individual contributor for your delivery team and be largely autonomous. Once you get started, you should have a solid grasp of the platform, our tech stack, and trends within the field of engineering. You will know dependencies with underlying systems and be able fix issues across system interfaces. In addition to developing and solving complex tasks, you will aid in prioritizing development stories, providing estimates and creating subtasks to implement product features within the sprint. You will take high ownership in production issues that arise and actively work to a timely resolution. You may also be involved with architecture decisions for the development framework and perform code reviews.
This role reports to an Engineering Manager.

Pay Transparency: For applicants living in CA or NY, the base salary range for this position is $160,000-180,000 annually. For applicants living outside of CA or NY, the base salary range for this position is $150,000- $170,000 annually. The compensation package also includes the following benefits: health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid holidays, flexible vacation time, paid parental leave, 401(k) plan, disability insurance, and life insurance.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop product features, enhancements, and technical improvements autonomously throughout our platform
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues and defects across your team’s technical domain
- Provide strong engineering perspective and leadership in sprint meetings, helping estimate stories, and raise awareness regarding implementation details of upcoming work
- Take an active role in not only the development, but the release and monitoring of our systems in Production as needed
- Actively contribute to and review best practices and adherence within your team’s technical domain
- Mentor and assist engineers
- Actively participate in code reviews
- Identify and suggest strategies to resolve technical debt

To be successful in this role you may have:
- Hands-on production level experience with Postgres (relational databases) and building scalable solutions
- Experience managing data and designing platforms to serve the business and clients
- Deep knowledge in JavaScript, Typescript, React/React Native, NestJS, and NodeJS
- Excellent and pragmatic testing practices
- Experience with deployment pipelines (CI/CD) and microservice architecture
- A proven track record of team leadership and mentorship
- Skill at partnering cross-functionally across the organization
- Ability to learn quickly and to adapt to changing requirements and priorities
- Background in or passion for working in health services
