A DAY IN THE LIFE:

A highly skilled team member and project lead who owns and develops embedded software projects for a development team working on Tandem's insulin pump products. This leadership role will join a team that advances architectural initiatives through new platform features. This role will focus not only on software implementation, but also driving new architectural proposals, preparing feature designs, improving code architecture, working cross-functionally with other teams, and modeling Tandem values.

  • Leads and makes strong contributions to team’s platform initiatives and project milestones.
  • Drives assigned architectural projects or initiatives to success with minimal direction.
  • Prepares designs, solicits feedback and support for proposed changes, develops, and tests embedded software per corporate software process.
  • Owns team’s development output for assigned projects and sets direction of team’s day-to-day workload.
  • Organizes and prioritizes software backlog of upcoming work across the team and breaks down complex scope into smaller tasks.
  • Represents team, identifies risks, unblocks work through regular communication of project statuses.
  • Initiates and facilitates team discussions, design proposals, and code reviews.
  • Operates with high collaboration with team members and applies mentorship where applicable.
  • Proactively shares ideas for process improvements with peers and management.
  • Creates, maintains, and reviews software requirements, specifications, interface descriptions, and other software documentation.
  • Regularly contributes to software test strategy to support validation and verification activities.
  • Attends and presents relevant documentation for the Software Review Board (SRB).
  • Reviews final project documentation for content and accuracy.
  • Independently troubleshoots, debugs, and solves technical problems.
  • Maintains compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

  • Proven record of initiating and implementing embedded software architecture and design patterns.
  • Experienced in leading a development team and achieving deliverables with minimal direction.
  • Drives initiatives independently from conceptual proposals to implementation and commercialization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop efficient, maintainable embedded code following best practices.
  • Skilled at defining and translating high-level requirements into software design and implementation.
  • Highly effective communicator and able to lead group discussions.
  • Strong knowledge of formal software development process and test methodologies.
  • Able to assert own ideas and persuade others through consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information.
  • Proficient in Source Code Management (SCM) tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Sciences or related field or equivalent combination of
    education and applicable job experience.
  • 6 years’ experience in the “C” programming language on embedded devices.
  • Proficient in embedded software design patterns for low-power consumer devices.
  • Experience with software lifecycle development for medical device software preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
