ABOUT THE ROLE 

Senior Software Developers are responsible for serving the business and contributing to its success. Such service will be realized by championing personal, team, departmental, and company goals and strategies with a commitment to excellence and a spirit of perseverance.  
 

EXPERIENCE/TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED  

• The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree and five to eight years’ development experience, or ten years of related experience. 
• Development Frameworks – Microsoft .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC, Angular, Entity Framework 5 or later 
• Application Services – SOAP and RESTful services 
• Programming Languages – C#, TypeScript, Javascript 
• Web Development – HTML5, Bootstrap CSS, jQuery 
• Development and Deployment Tools – Visual Studio 2022, TFS, Git, Azure DevOps, Azure Kubernetes (AKS) 
• Strong understanding of software design patterns 
• Workflow and messaging, particularly with RabbitMQ 
• Database – Oracle, Dapper, Entity Framework 
• Other Nice-to-Have Skills:  
  • Legacy Development Frameworks – Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Forms (WinForms), LINQ, ADO 
  • SQL development tools such as TOAD 
  • Database – Microsoft SQL Server, NoSQL, MongoDB, GraphQL 
  • Microsoft Dynamics 
  • GitHub Co-Pilot 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS PREFERRED   

•  Project development methodologies (full development lifecycle) with Agile/Scrum/DevOps experience 
• Requirements gathering 
• Lead full stack web development 
• Relational database analysis and modeling 
• Trouble analysis and resolution with individual software applications and multi-application interfaces 
• Travel industry business a plus 
• Global Distribution System (GDS) experience, particularly Sabre, is a big plus

• Maintain and enhance a mixture of business software 
• Follow Company technology standards for analysis, design, programming, testing, and support of software solutions 
• Assisting in developing clear business requirements 
• Provide value by integrating business rules and content in accordance with requirements 
• Express ideas for process improvements to increase flexibility, reduce costs, and improve user experience 
• Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing tasks as assigned 
• Cross-train as needed to support or back up team members 
• Promote positive relationships internally and externally 
• Seek to present zero defect products to the Quality Assurance and Production environments 
• Seek continual improvement of system availability, performance, and workflow 
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project methodologies, e.g., estimating, use cases, testing 
• Provide input to software product review and selection 
• Contribute to the creation and adherence of best practice standards for analysis, design, coding, testing, and support of successful software solutions 
• Mentor and train others to use defined standards and help junior developers on technical approaches and best practices 
• Provide support to the team, department, and company regarding architectural design and strategy, and participate in Senior architectural team planning 
• Proven history of leadership regarding architectural design and strategy 
• Research and present recommendations regarding technology trends 

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT 

The following teams make up the Technology department: Core Services, Tour and Cruise Services, Marketing Services, eCommerce, Quality Assurance, Network Operations, and Engineering. The group identifies and develops technological strategies that support GVI’s business goals and objectives to ensure internal and external partners are provided with stable systems. These include: all desktop, network, phone and email systems, applications (reservations and operations systems), websites, and Internet access.
